Dear Secretary of Committee,

I got the details about your committee from the ACCC when I complained about the non availability of ADSL in our area in NSW.

I understand that your committee is dealing with the competition and services on the ADSL matters - so I have decided to ask your assistance on the matter

We live in Eureka northern NSW ( it's the Federal Telstra exchange in our area ) and for over a year we are trying to convince Telstra to upgrade to ADSL

ADSL broadband services are absolutely essential to the survival of our business as an international business that operates from home and over the internet.

Telstra has 100% monopoly over that market because it controls the exchange and it doesn't have any intention to upgrade it - they are using every possible excuse not to upgrade it because it's a commercial decision and they don't think it's viable money wise.

Technically none of the other providers can install any ADSL device without Telstra upgrading the exchange ( only once upgraded competition can happen in areas like ours ).

I think this should be introduced to be law or regulations that providers have to be able to compete even in rural areas of Australia - otherwise business will never last in the modern and competitive world.

It is actually in the interest of the Australian Government to enable modern business like ours to operate and develop rural areas of Australia. ADSL brings employment to rural areas and by that helps the government in achieving it's objectives and minimising other costs

I am sure that in modern times broadband and ADSL services are as essential as telephony services and companies like Telstra and other local ones ( as the local linknet ) should be encouraged to provide such services by government incentives and grants and by encouraging competition and adding broadband to the utilities Act.

Looking forward for your reply and help on the matter

Kind regards
