Chapter 1 - Conduct of the Inquiry
1.1
On 5 April 2001 the Senate referred the
following matter to the Committee for inquiry and report by 18 May 2001:
The provisions of:
- the Corporations (Commonwealth Powers) Act
2001 (NSW); and
- the Corporations Bill 2001 and the Australian
Securities and Investments Commission Bill 2001.
1.2
The Committee advertised the terms of reference
of its inquiry and received four submissions, listed at Attachment A.
1.3
The Committee held a public hearing on the
inquiry in Melbourne on Friday, 27 April 2001. Attachment B lists the witnesses
who appeared before the Committee.
1.4
All submissions and the Hansard transcripts of
the public hearings appear on the Committee's website at www.aph.gov.au/corps_securities.
