On Monday 18 June 2012, the House of Representatives Standing Committee on Social Policy and Legal Affairs tabled its advisory report on the Marriage Equality Amendment Bill 2012 and the Marriage Amendment Bill 2012.

This marks the completion of the Committee’s task to inquiry into these bills. The Committee will not respond to any comments made about the report.

What happens next?

The House of Representatives now has the Committee’s advisory report to take into account when considering the bills. Both bills will be debated in the House of Representatives from Monday 18 June, and will be voted on by all Members of Parliament.
