APS Annual Update

The purpose of the Joint Committee of Public Accounts and Audit (JCPAA) has remained essentially unchanged since it was first established in 1913: to hold Commonwealth agencies to account for the lawfulness, efficiency and effectiveness with which they use public monies.

In support of this, the Committee has decided to hold a public hearing involving the heads of the key agencies responsible for public sector governance and administration, to discuss whole of government issues and trends. Representatives from the Australian Public Service Commission, Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet, Department of Finance and Deregulation, and the Australian National Audit Office have been invited to attend.
