COMMITTEE IN VICTORIA TO INVESTIGATE CATCHMENT PROBLEMS

The Commonwealth House of Representatives Environment and Heritage committee will visit Victoria next week and will hold a public hearing for its inquiry into catchment management on Tuesday, 2 May, in Melbourne.

The committee's catchment management inquiry is looking at issues such as the best way to involve the Commonwealth, state and local governments, the private sector and the community in catchment management.

While in Victoria the committee will be visiting Shepparton and Kerang to talk to people involved in catchment management.

At the public hearing the committee will be taking evidence from representatives of the Victorian state agencies involved in catchment management, water authorities, researchers and individuals with particular expertise and experience in catchment management.

The public hearing will commence at 9.00 a.m. at the Conference Room on level 8, 35 Spring Street. More details of the hearing program.
