Purpose
To impose a charge on exports of apples and pears.

Provisions
This Bill provides for the imposition of a charge on apple and pears
exported after 1 January, 1977. (clause 6 and 2). The Apple and Pear Export Charges Act 1938
imposing the present levy is repealed from
that date. (clause 3)
The rate of the charge will be prescribed by the Government, taking
into account any recommendations of the Growers’ Association; but will
not exceed 6 cents per box of fruit (clause 7).
