A new peak body being established for consumers and consumer organisations on issues including telecommunications and the internet.

ATUG is a not-for-profit membership-based organisation of Australian telecommunications users.

The Communications Alliance was formed in 2006 to provide a unified voice for the Australian communications industry and to lead it into the next generation of converging networks, technologies and services. Communications Alliance has formed by the merger of the Australian Communications Industry Forum (ACIF) and the Service Providers Association Inc (SPAN).

An independent, non-profit, public interest organisation specialising in media, communications and online law and policy.

  • Department of Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy (DBCDE)     
  • Internet Industry Association (IIA)
    Australia's national Internet industry organisation.
    • IIA Spam Code of Practice: the code applies to all internet service providers in Australia, as well as global email service providers providing services in Australia.
    • IIA Content Services Code of Practice: the code applies to commercial content service providers, live content service providers, hosting service providers and chat service providers for content accessible in Australia via fixed and mobile Internet devices with an "Australian connection" as defined in the Broadcasting Act.
  • Internet Society of Australia (ISOC-AU)
    A non-profit organisation which promotes development of the internet in Australia to benefit the whole community, including business, academic, professional, and private internet users.
  • La Trobe University Online Media Program
    The program's principle goals are to investigate the social and economic implications of internet-based communications.
  • NetAlert

    NetAlert is part of the Australian Government's ongoing commitment to providing a safe online environment for all families, especially children.

  • Online and Communications Council

    The Online and Communications Council (OCC) operates as the peak ministerial forum across governments to consider and reach agreement on strategic approaches on information and communications issues of a national importance.

  • Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman (TIO)

    The Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman is a free and independent alternative dispute resolution scheme for small business and residential consumers in Australia who have a complaint about their telephone or internet services.

  • Telephone Information Services Standards Council (TISSC)
    An independent regulatory body that sets fair standards for the message content and advertising of any Australian telecommunication service with the prefix 190, in the form of a Code of Practice.
