10 Staffing statistics

This appendix contains summary information on the department’s staffing in 2004–05.

Location and classification of staff

Included in the figures in the following table are the sessional staff and parliamentary assistants employed by the department. These staff are employed in order to accommodate variations to working patterns during the sittings of the House and are generally not employed when the House is not sitting. Other non-ongoing staff are also included in the table.

Separations

A total of 39 staff left the department in 2004–05 (32 in 2003–04). The reasons for separation, with comparative figures for 2003–04, are detailed below.

The department’s turnover rate for the year was 8.9 per cent of ongoing staff (5.5 per cent in 2003–04).
