Regional Australia’s response to global financial crisis
Organisations representing banks, Australian mutuals, mortgage insurers and the business community will discuss the impact of the global financial crisis on regional Australia with the House of Representatives Regional Development Committee at NSW Parliament on 6 July. In addition, the federal parliamentary inquiry will also investigate the impact of the crisis on Australian tourism with the Transport and Tourism Forum. Members of the public are welcome to observe the proceedings. The committee will also be visiting the western NSW city of Broken Hill on 7 July. The ninth hearing of this inquiry will be at the Broken Hill Council Chamber Offices. Participants have been invited by the committee to discuss a range of issues including the economic and social impact of the crisis on their communities and ways in which the Commonwealth Government can assist regional Australia during this period. The public are also welcome to observe the proceedings.
