Final report on immigration detention in Australia released

Chritmas Island Immigration Detention Centre The Joint Standing Committee on Migration tabled its third and final report on immigration detention on Monday 17 August in the House of Representatives.

The report is the last of three inquiring into developing a new immigration detention system for the future. This report, Immigration detention in Australia, Facilities, services and transparency, examines the current immigration detention infrastructure and the provision of detention services and detention health services across the range of current immigration detention facilities.

The third report also inquires into the options to expand the transparency and visibility of immigration detention facilities and care for the well being of detainees.
