Parliamentary Joint Committee on Foreign Affairs, Defence and Trade

The Joint Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs, Defence and Trade considers and reports on matters relating to foreign affairs, defence, trade, and human rights that may be referred to it by either House of the Parliament, the Minister for Foreign Affairs, the Minister for Defence, or the Minister for Trade. The Committee may also inquire into matters raised in annual reports of relevant Commonwealth Government departments and authorities or in reports of the Commonwealth Auditor-General. The Committee has recently tabled reports of the:

• Review of the Defence Annual Report 2007-2008

• Inquiry into RAAF F-111 Deseal-Reseal workers and their families,

• Inquiry into Australia's Relationship with ASEAN; and

• Australia’s relationship with India as an emerging world power.

The Committee is currently conducting the following inquiries:

• Inquiry into Australia's Relationship with the Countries of Africa

• Inquiry into Human Rights Mechanisms and the Asia-Pacific
  

• Inquiry into Australia's trade and investment relations with Asia, the Pacific and Latin America
