Standing Committee on Economics

The House of Representatives Standing Committee on Economics conducts inquiries into matters referred to it by the House of Representatives or a Minister of the Commonwealth Government.

The Committee is currently inquiring into:

Raising the level of productivity growth in the Australian Economy (current)
Please note: the Inquiry into the choice of emissions trading as the central policy to reduce Australia's carbon pollution has been discontinued and the committee is not receiving submissions

Reserve Bank Governeror appears before the Economics Committee

The Governor of the Reserve Bank of Australia, Glenn Stevens, appears before the Economics Committee twice a year to answer questions from Members of parliament.

When the Economics Committee met with the Governor in August 2009, the focus was on the future direction of interest rates.
