Standing Committee on Climate Change, Water, Environment and the Arts
The Standing Committee on Climate Change, Water, Environment and the Arts is to carry out inquiries into matters referred to it by the House of Representatives or a Minister of the Commonwealth Government. The Committee can also inquire into matters raised in annual reports of Commonwealth Government departments and authorities or in reports by the Commonwealth Auditor-General.
Australians love the beach. But for a growing number of people living beside the beach is turning from a dream into a nightmare. Beachfront homes once envied for their proximity to the sea are under threat from erosion and rising sea levels.
The Committee has been conducting an inquiry into this growing problem. This About the House TV segment examines some of the issues that the Committee has considered.
The report of the inquiry will be tabled in Parliament on Monday, 26 October.
