Inquiry into the high level of involvement of Indigenous juveniles and young adults in the criminal justice system (lapsed)
On Thursday 19 November 2009 the Hon Jenny Macklin MP, Minister for Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs requested the House of Representatives Standing Committee on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Affairs inquire and report into the high level of involvement of Indigenous juveniles and young adults in the criminal justice system.
Under the Standing Orders of the House of Representatives, standing committees are appointed for the life of the Parliament. The 42nd Parliament was prorogued on Monday 19 July 2010 and the House of Representatives dissolved on Monday 19 July 2010 for a general election to be held on Saturday 21 August 2010.
All Committees in the House of Representatives and joint committees of the Senate and House of Representatives for the 42nd Parliament ceased to exist upon the dissolution of the House of Representatives at 5:00pm, Monday 19 July 2010.
At the prorogation of the Parliament at 4:59pm, Monday 19 July 2010 all committee inquires lapsed. Therefore, inquiries of the 42nd Parliament that were not completed have now lapsed; however, information about them is still available on this website. Information on Committees for the 43rd Parliament will be presented here as soon as it is available.
