Appendix 3—Staffing statistics

The Clerk of the Senate is appointed by the President of the Senate under subsection 58(1) of the Parliamentary Service Act 1999. Staff of the department are engaged under section 22 of the Parliamentary Service Act 1999.

The figures in this appendix exclude staff on leave without pay and those on temporary movements out of the department at 30 June 2006.

Also excluded are those non‑ongoing staff employed on a casual or sessional basis who did not work on 30 June 2006, the last working day of the 2005–06 year.
