Annual Report 2004–05

Help

Using the keyboard to navigate the report

You can use the keyboard to move through the navigation menus and other links (shift-tab to move backwards). After tabbing to a button or link, if the link is not activated immediately, press enter.

In most browsers you can also use the page up, page down, home and end keys to move around quickly.

How to find information quickly in this report

The 2004–05 Annual Report includes several features to assist you in finding the information you are looking for quickly. These features are described below.

The top row of buttons links to other sections of the Parliament of Australia website.

The second row links to pages that will help you use the online version of the report.

To find specific information, you can browse using the table of contents and the menu at the side of the screen. When you click on a heading in the side menu, links to the main sections of that part of the report will appear. The section of the report that you are currently in is highlighted in the side menu.

The site map includes links to every page of the report.

At the top of every page is a 'breadcrumb trail' to help you find your way back the way you came:

Each section takes you back towards the report's home page. You can click on a page name to jump directly to that page.

You can use the 'Previous Page' and 'Next Page' links to move through the report in the same order as the printed report:

Previous Page | Contents | Next Page

Some pages have a 'Back' link instead of 'Previous Page' and 'Next Page', and will take you back to the last page you visited.

If you need help to use any of the features of the report listed below, click on 'Help' in the top menu for a description of the feature and how to use it.

Download and printing

If you just want to print out a few pages, find the page you want using the table of contents or the side menu and use your browser's print button. All pages are in a print-friendly format, but if the page contains a wide table you may need to select landscape printing.

The contents page contains links to Portable Document Format (PDF) files, which are ideal for printing. The report is available as a single PDF document or as individual parts. The PDF files can be downloaded and then printed or viewed offline. The files contain bookmarks that allow you to move quickly and easily through the document without having to scroll down or open new documents.

You need the free Adobe Acrobat reader installed on your computer in
order to view PDF files. You can download the Acrobat reader at:
http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep.html

Large PDF files

If your browser opens Adobe Acrobat files within the browser window, it is strongly recommended that the following procedure be used to access
these PDF files:

1. Move your mouse over a link and right click with your mouse.
2. Choose "Save Target As..." (Internet Explorer) OR "Save Link As..." (Netscape).
3. Select an appropriate folder on a local drive to save the downloaded file.

Viewing and your computer's settings

The report is best viewed at a resolution of 800 x 600 or greater. If you are using a resolution of 800 x 600, you may need to have the browser window maximised and the sidebar closed in order to prevent the side menu from overlapping the content on some pages that contain very wide tables.

Changing text size and colours

Click on the buttons at the top right of the screen (or tab to them and press the enter key) to change the size of the text and the colours of the text and background.
