External scrutiny
There were no judicial decisions or decisions of administrative tribunals during 2003–04 that had, or may have, a significant impact on the operation of the department.
As discussed in the report on performance for Outcome 1, the Standing Committee on Appropriations and Staffing and the Finance and Public Administration Legislation Committee continued to monitor the performance of the department.
The department was not involved in any cross-portfolio audits or benchmarking activities conducted by the Australian National Audit Office during the reporting period.
