Inquiry into Family Assistance, Social Security and Veterans' Affairs Legislation (2005 Budget and Other Measures) Bill 2006

Reason for referral of the Bill and information relating to the reference

The Senate, on the recommendation of the Selection of Bills Committee, has referred the provisions of the above Bill to the Committee for inquiry and report by 24 March 2006.

The Bill, Explanatory Memoranda, second reading speech and other information relating to the inquiry may be accessed on this website via the link to 'legislation and documentation relating to the Bills'.

The reason for referral of the Family Assistance, Social Security and Veterans' Affairs Legislation Amendment (2005 Budget and Other Measures) Bill 2006 is to examine the viability and operation of the provisions of the Bill and its impact on relevant groups.

The Committee invites written submissions addressing this issue or other issues which are of relevance to your organisation. Submissions relating to the Bill should be lodged by Friday, 10 March 2006. The Committee prefers to receive submissions electronically as an attached document - email: community.affairs.sen@aph.gov.au – otherwise by fax (number 02 6277 5829).

The Committee has scheduled a public hearing on the Bill on Tuesday, 14 March 2006.
