  • Working group's report to departmental heads

18 March 1997

  • Report to Presiding Officers.

By 1 July 1997

  • establish path and timetable for legislature changes thatmay be required. Coordinate with new FMA Act and new PS Act, includingresolution of any relevant legal opinions
  • commence on-going consultation process
  • 5 separate appropriations, with budget cover moved from JHDto chamber Departments to fund NPPs
  • consultation with staff and staff associations re naturalattrition, redeployment, voluntary redundancies etc.
  • working parties set up to commence drafting SLAs

1 July - 31 December 1997

  • Continue program of information sharing
  • fine detail worked out of how to merge 5 departments intotwo
  • finalise structures of Senate and House of Representativesdepartments
  • finalise the re-allocation of appropriations
  • finalise calculation of savings to be achieved
  • decide on common FMIS and HRMIS
  • establish new chart of accounts
  • commence actual merge.

1 January 1998 - Finalise merge
