Inquiry into the Crime Amendment (Bail and Sentencing) Bill 2006

Information about the inquiry

On 14 September 2006 , the Senate referred the above Bill to the Senate Legal and Constitutional Affairs Committee for inquiry and report by 16 October 2006.

The Bill proposes to amend the sentencing and bail provisions in the Crimes Act 1914 in accordance with the decisions made by the Council of Australian Governments on 14 July 2006 following the Intergovernmental Summit on Violence and Child Abuse in Indigenous Communities on 26 June 2006

Lodging Submissions

Submissions are called for by 25 September 2006. Submissions become Committee documents and are only made public after a decision by the Committee.
