Report
- The committee met in private session on Wednesday, 21 June 2006 at 4.18 pm .
- The committee resolved to recommend—That—
- the provisions of the Aboriginal Land Rights (Northern Territory) Amendment Bill 2006 be referred immediately to the Community Affairs Legislation Committee for inquiry and report by 1 August 2006 (see appendices 1 to 3 for statements of reasons for referral) ;
- the provisions of the Intellectual Property Laws Amendment Bill 2006 be referred immediately to the Economics Legislation Committee for inquiry and report by 9 August 2006 (see appendix 4 for a statement of reasons for referral);
- the Crimes Act Amendment (Forensic Procedures) Bill (No. 1) 2006 be referred immediately to the Legal and Constitutional Legislation Committee for inquiry and report by 1 August 2006 (see appendices 5 and 6 for statements of reasons for referral);
- the Customs Legislation Amendment (Modernising Import Controls and Other Measures) Bill 2006 be referred immediately to the Legal and Constitutional Legislation Committee for inquiry and report by 1 August 2006 (see appendix 7 for a statement of reasons for referral);
- the Financial Transaction Reports Amendment Bill 2006 be referred immediately to the Legal and Constitutional Legislation Committee for inquiry and report by 1 August 2006 (see appendix 8 for a statement of reasons for referral);
- upon their introduction into the House of Representatives, the provisions of the Independent Contractors Bill 2006 and Workplace Relations Legislation Amendment (Independent Contractors) Bill 2006 be referred immediately to the Employment, Workplace Relations and Education Legislation Committee for inquiry and report by 25 August 2006 (see appendix 9 for a statement of reasons for referral); and
- upon its introduction into the House of Representatives, the provisions of the Indigenous Education (Targeted Assistance) Amendment Bill 2006 be referred immediately to the Employment, Workplace Relations and Education Legislation Committee for inquiry and report by 1 August 2006 (see appendix 10 for a statement of reasons for referral).
- The committee resolved to recommend—That the following bills not be referred to committees:
