INQUIRY INTO MARRIAGE VISA CLASSES
INTERIM REPORT
Pursuant to Senate Standing Order 38(7), I present to you an interim report of the Senate Legal and Constitutional Affairs References Committee (committee) in relation to its inquiry into Marriage Visa Classes.
On 24 November 2011, the Senate referred the inquiry to the committee for report by 3 May 2012. The reporting date was subsequently extended to 7 June 2012.
The committee has received nine submissions and held a public hearing in Canberra on 25 May 2012. Due to the need to thoroughly consider the evidence and conclude its deliberations, the committee intends to table its final report by 25 June 2012.
