At the dissolution of the Senate and the House of Representatives on 9 May 2016 for a general election on 2 July 2016, the parliamentary committees of the 44th Parliament ceased to exist. Therefore inquiries that were not completed have lapsed and submissions cannot be received. However, information about the inquiries is still available on this website.

On 12 November 2015, the Senate resolved to establish the Select Committee on Unconventional Gas Mining. The committee is to inquire on the adequacy of Australia‘s legislative, regulatory and policy framework for unconventional gas mining including coal seam gas (CSG) and shale gas mining, and provide a final report to the Senate on or before 30 June 2016.
The closing date for submissions is 14 March 2016.
