Review of ASIO's questioning and detention powers

The Parliamentary Joint Committee on Intelligence and Security has commenced a review of the operation, effectiveness and implications of Division 3 of Part III of the Australian Security Intelligence Organisation Act 1979.

Division 3 provides for special powers relating to terrorism offences, including questioning warrants and questioning and detention warrants.

The Committee is currently accepting submissions. Online submissions can be made on this page.

Submissions are due 21 April 2017.

Under paragraph 29(1)(bb) of the Intelligence Services Act 2001, the Committee is required to complete its review by 7 March 2018.
