Eighth Report of the 44th Parliament
On Tuesday, 24 June 2014, the Parliamentary Joint Committee on Human Rights (PJCHR) tabled its Eighth Report of the 44th Parliament. This report provides the PJCHR's view on the compatibility with human rights as defined in the Human Rights (Parliamentary Scrutiny) Act 2011 of bills introduced into the Parliament during the period 2 - 19 June 2014 and legislative instruments received between 31 May and 6 June 2014. The committee also considered 11 responses to the committee's comments in its previous reports.

Guide to Human Rights
The Guide to Human Rights focuses on 25 of the key rights found in the seven international human rights treaties against which the committee considers questions of human rights compatibility. The Guide is not intended to be comprhensive or legalistic but provides a short and accssible overview of the key rights that the committee considers when examining legislation.

PJCHR Mailing List
The Parliamentary Joint Committee on Human Rights (PJCHR) secretariat is establishing a mailing list for the 44th Parliament to notify subscribers when new information becomes available on the committee's website.
Subscribers to the mailing list will receive an email when the committee tables its regular report (generally once every sitting week) and may occasionally receive emails in regards to other aspects of the committee's work.

Please note the secretariat will retain email addresses for the purpose of this mailing list only and no other identifying information will be recorded.
