Inquiry into the Marriage Equality Amendment Bill 2012 and the Marriage Amendment Bill 2012

On Thursday 16 February 2012, the Selection Committee asked the Committee to inquire into and report on the Marriage Equality Amendment Bill 2012 and the Marriage Amendment Bill 2012. Please click here to link to a relevant Background Note produced by the Parliamentary Library on Same-sex marriage.

The Committee will examine the Marriage Bills, in particular the legal and technical aspects, and provide to Parliament a report summarising the issues and contributions to the inquiry. The Bills will then be debated in the House of Representatives.

The Committee is no longer accepting responses to this inquiry. A selection of responses is published here and the responses to an online survey can be found here. The transcript from a public hearing held in Sydney on Thursday 12 April 2012 is available here.

The Committee tabled the report on Monday 18 June 2012.
