ANZFA TRIES TO EVADE GENE TECHNOLOGY INQUIRY

Fran Bailey, chairman of the Standing Committee for Primary Industries and Regional Services, announced today that ANZFA would not be participating in the committee's enquiry into gene technology on 29 September.

"It is disappointing that although ANZFA were contacted a month ago about the scheduled meeting for 29 September, the committee has only been informed of their decision now, said Fran.

"This inquiry is of vital importance to both primary producers and consumers and ANZFA will play an important role in future regulatory decisions.

"Our inquiry would not be complete without evidence from ANZFA so we will re-schedule a meeting date in order for ANZFA to appear.
