Witnesses appearing as individuals (private capacity)

In recognition of the personal and sensitive nature of this inquiry the committee has recently decided that when individuals appear before the committee in a private capacity at a public hearing (that is not representing an organisation) the committee will use an individual's name during the course of the hearing but the name will not be reported in the Hansard transcript which goes onto the committees website. Rather, in those transcripts, the individual witness appearing in a private capacity will be referred to as a numbered witness. The transcript's of the public hearing that have been on the committee's website will be modified to reflect this decision. This is being done so that the committee can maximise the availability of the public information, while still protecting individuals and third parties.
