The Standing Committee on Economics conducts inquiries into matters referred to it by the House of Representatives or a Minister of the Commonwealth Government.

The Committee was established on the 29 September 2010.

RBA Public Hearing: 8 October 2012

The House of Representatives Economics Committee held a public hearing with the Governor of the Reserve Bank of Australia, Mr Glenn Stevens, in Canberra on Monday, 8 October 2012.

On 24 August Mr Stevens appeared before the committee and responded to questions about the bank's knowledge of and response to allegations of corrupt activity at Note Printing Australia and Securency International. The hearing on 8 October provided further opportunity for the committee to question Mr Stevens and retired Deputy-Governor Mr Ric Battellino on this matter.
