Community Affairs Committee

Portfolios allocated: Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs; Health and Ageing
For current information about the committee's hearings

The committee met from 9.00am until 11.00pm.

The committee called the department and agencies of the Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs portfolio, including the Indigenous Land Corporation, Aboriginal Hostels Limited and Indigenous Business Australia.

The committee will meet on Wednesday, 4 June 2008 in Committee Room 2S1, calling the Health and Ageing portfolio, commencing with the department.

Economics Committee

Portfolios allocated: Innovation, Industry, Science and Research; Resources, Energy and Tourism; Treasury

The committee met from 9.02am until 10.05pm.

The committee called:

  • the department and agencies of the Innovation, Industry, Science and Research, including the Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation, the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation, the Australian Institute of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies, and the Office of the Chief Scientist; and
  • the department and agencies of the Treasury portfolio, including the Australian Taxation Office, the Inspector-General of Taxation, the Australian Office of Financial Management and the Australian Bureau of Statistics.

The committee will meet on Wednesday, 4 June 2008 in Committee Room 2R1, again calling the Treasury portfolio, commencing with the department.

Education, Employment and Workplace Relations Committee

Portfolios allocated: Education, Employment and Workplace Relations

The committee met from 9.01am until 8.44pm.

The committee called the department and agencies of the Education, Employment and Workplace Relations portfolio, including Comcare, the Workplace Authority, the Australian Industrial Registry, the Workplace Ombudsman, the Australian Building and Construction Commission and the Australian Fair Pay Commission Secretariat.

The committee will meet on Wednesday, 4 June 2008 in Committee Room 2S3, again calling the Education, Employment and Workplace Relations portfolio, commencing with Teaching Australia.

Foreign Affairs, Defence and Trade Committee

Portfolios allocated: Foreign Affairs and Trade; Defence (including Veterans' Affairs)

The committee met from 10.00am until 6.05pm.

The committee called the department and agencies of the Foreign Affairs and Trade portfolio, including the Australian Agency for International Development and Austrade.

The committee will meet on Wednesday, 4 June 2008 in the Main Committee Room, calling the Defence portfolio, commencing with the department.
