2008-09 Supplementary budget estimates

Community Affairs Committee

Portfolios allocated: Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs; Health and Ageing
For current information about the committee’s hearings

The committee met from 9.00am until 9.35pm.

The committee called the Department of Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs.

Pursuant to a resolution of the Senate of 26 August 2008, the committee will next meet on Friday, 24 October 2008 in the Main Committee Room to hold a hearing on cross portfolio Indigenous matters. (PDF 18KB)

 

Economics Committee

Portfolios allocated: Innovation, Industry, Science and Research; Resources, Energy and Tourism; Treasury

The committee met from 9.01am until 10.47pm.

The committee:

  • called agencies of the Treasury portfolio, including the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority, the Productivity Commission and the Corporations and Markets Advisory Committee;
  • called the department and agencies of the Innovation, Industry, Science and Research portfolio, including the Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation, the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation and the Australian Research Council;
  • called the department and agencies of the Resources, Energy and Tourism portfolio, including Tourism Australia, the National Offshore Petroleum Safety Authority and Geoscience Australia; and
  • concluded its hearings.

 

Education, Employment and Workplace Relations Committee

Portfolios allocated: Education, Employment and Workplace Relations

The committee met from 9.03am until 11.01pm.

The committee:

  • called the department and agencies of the Education, Employment and Workplace Relations portfolio, including the Australian Fair Pay Commission Secretariat, the Workplace Authority, the Australian Industrial Registry and the Australian Building and Construction Commissioner; and
  • concluded its hearings.

 

Foreign Affairs, Defence and Trade Committee

Portfolios allocated: Defence (including Veterans’ Affairs); Foreign Affairs and Trade

The committee met from 9.00am until 8.55pm.

The committee:

  • called the department and agencies of the Foreign Affairs and Trade portfolio, including the Australian Agency for International Development and the Australian Trade Commission; and
  • concluded its hearings.
