The Senate did not agree to a motion moved by Senator Boswell to consider the Food Standards Amendment (Truth in Labelling—Palm Oil) Bill 2010 and the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Amendment (Bioregional Plans) Bill 2011 under a limitation of time.

The Senate authorised the following meetings to be held while the Senate is sitting:

- Community Affairs References Committee–22 June 2011 from noon–private meeting otherwise than in accordance with standing order 33(1)
- National Broadband Network Joint Committee–23 June 2011 from 11.00 am to 1.30 pm–private meeting otherwise than in accordance with standing order 33(1)
- Treaties Joint Committee–4 July 2011 from 10.30 am to noon–public hearing
Reporting date extended
The Senate extended the reporting date for Environment and Communications Legislation Committee on the 2011-12 Budget estimates to 23 June 2011.

Senators Minchin, Ferguson and McGauran gave their valedictory speeches, and a series of speeches were given recognising the contribution of those senators whose terms expire on 30 June [first speaker]. These speeches will continue from 4.00 pm on 22 June 2011.
