The Senate met from 9.30 am until 10.00 pm

After a series of procedural processes, the Senate agreed to a
motion varying the hours of meeting and routine of business for 25
November and establishing 26 November 2010 as a further sitting
day.

The motion also ordered that the Telecommunications Legislation
Amendment (Competition and Consumer Safeguards) Bill 2010 be
considered under a limitation of time, which resulted in the bill
being considered for the remainder of the day. 10 Australian Greens
and 8 Senator Xenophon amendments were agreed to. Further
amendments remain to be considered [see Journals of the Senate
entries nos
3,
5 and
7].
Question time was held at the usual time of 2.00 pm.
Notices of motion
Two
notices of motion were lodged:
- To introduce a private senator’s bill–Native Title
Amendment (Reform) Bill 2010–notice given by Senator
Siewert
- To refer matters relating to social economy organisations in
Australia to the Economics References Committee–notice given
by Senator Stephens
