Public meeting
The Senate authorised the Corporations and Financial Services
Joint Committee to hold a public meeting while the Senate is
sitting on 23 June 2010 from 6.00 pm for the committee’s
inquiry into the continuing oversight of the operations of the
Australian Securities and Investments Commission.
Reporting date extended
The Senate agreed to extend the reporting date for the inquiry
of the Rural and Regional Affairs and Transport References
Committee into the management of aircraft noise by Airservices
Australia to 24 June 2010.
Proposal to modify an order of the Senate
The Senate did not agree to a proposal to
modify an order of the Senate agreed to on
28 October 2009, relating to the appearance of the President of
Fair Work Australia at hearings of the Education, Employment and
Workplace Relations Legislation Committee.
Variation to the appointment of a committee
The Senate
varied the resolution appointing the Fuel and Energy Select
Committee.

Death of Australian Defence Force personnel
The Minister for Defence (Senator Faulkner)
moved that the Senate records its deep sorrow at the death, on
21 June 2010, of Private Timothy Aplin, Private Benjamin Chuck and
Private Scott Palmer, while on combat operations in Afghanistan.
The motion was supported.
