A
notice was given by the Minister for Human Services (Senator
Ludwig) to vary the days and hours of meeting for the remainder of
the week to enable the Government’s legislative program to be
considered.

Public meeting
The Senate authorised the Legal and Constitutional Affairs
Committee to hold a public meeting while the Senate is sitting on
23 September 2008 from 4.00pm for the committee’s inquiry
into the provisions of the Same-Sex Relationships (Equal Treatment
in Commonwealth Laws—General Law Reform) Bill 2008.
Reporting dates extended
The Senate extended the following reporting dates of the Legal
and Constitutional Affairs Committee:
- Same-Sex Relationships (Equal Treatment in Commonwealth
Laws—Superannuation) Bill 2008 and the Same-Sex Relationships
(Equal Treatment in Commonwealth Laws—General Law Reform)
Bill 2008–to report by 8 October 2008
- Independent Reviewer of Terrorism Laws Bill 2008 [No.
2]–to report by 14 October 2008
