National Apology to the Stolen Generations
The Leader of the Government in the Senate (Senator Evans) moved
a motion offering a
National Apology to the Stolen Generations. The motion was
debated and agreed to.
A subsequent
motion to take note of the apology was also debated. Debate
will continue on a later sitting day.

- The Senate agreed to a
motion establishing committee groupings and dates for estimates
hearings for 2008.
- The Special Minister of State (Senator Faulkner) tabled
particulars of proposed additional expenditure. The Senate referred
the particulars to committees, for consideration at estimates
hearings next week.
Additional information
The Finance and Public Administration Committee tabled
additional information arising from additional estimates 2002-03
and 2006-07, and budget estimates 2007-08.

The Senate amended the names of two of its committees and
allocated
departments and agencies to standing committees.

Messages from the House of Representatives were reported asking
the Senate to agree to resolutions re-establishing joint
committees. The Senate will consider the messages on a later
sitting day.

temporary order relating to substitute membership
arrangements.
