Changes to hours of meeting
The Senate agreed to a
motion moved by the Minister for Fisheries, Forestry and
Conservation (Senator Abetz) to extend the hours of meeting for the
remainder of the Autumn sittings to allow the Government’s
legislative program to be considered.

Selection of Bills Committee report
The Senate adopted
report no. 4 of the Selection of Bills Committee, which
recommended that the Higher Education Legislation Amendment (2007
Measures No. 1) Bill 2007 be referred to the Employment, Workplace
Relations and Education Committee for inquiry and report by 1 May
2007.

The Senate agreed to extend the time for the presentation of the
report of the Economics Committee on the 2006-07 additional

Notice of motion given

- Intelligence and Security Joint Committee –23 March 2007
from 9.30am –two classified hearings to take evidence for the
committee’s inquiries into the review of administration and
expenditure no. 5: Australian Intelligence Organisations, and the
review of the re-listing of Tanzim Qa’idat al-Jihad fi Bilad
al-Rafidayan (TQJBR) as a terrorist organisation under the
Criminal Code Act 1995.

letters had been received from Senator Brandis resigning his
position as a member of the Council of the National Library of
Australia, and resigning from the Parliamentary Library Joint
Committee.
