Resources; Treasury

information about the committee’s hearings
The committee met from 9am until 11.05pm.
The committee called the department and
agencies of the Treasury portfolio, including: the Australian
Taxation Office, the Australian Accounting Standards Board, the
Corporations and Markets Advisory Committee and the Australian
Bureau of Statistics.
The committee will next meet on Thursday, 15 February 2007 in
House of Representatives Committee Room 2R1, calling the:
- Treasury portfolio, commencing with the Australian Competition
and Consumer Commission; and
- Industry Tourism and Resources portfolio, commencing with
Resources and Energy.
Employment, Workplace Relations and Education
Committee
Portfolios allocated: Employment and Workplace
Relations; Education, Science and Training

The committee met from 9am until 11pm.
The committee:
- called the department and agencies of the
Education, Science and Training portfolio, including: the
Australian Research Council, the Australian Nuclear Science and
Technology Organisation, the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial
Research Organisation, and the Australian Institute of Marine
Science; and
- did not require the Indigenous Transitions
Group, the Strategic Analysis and Evaluation Group and the
International Education Group.
The committee will next meet on Thursday, 15 February 2007 in
Senate Committee Room 2S3, calling the Employment and Workplace
Relations portfolio, commencing with the department.
Foreign Affairs, Defence and Trade
Committee
Portfolios allocated: Foreign Affairs and
Trade; Defence (including Veterans’ Affairs)

The committee met from 9am until 11pm.
The committee:
- called the department and agencies of the
Defence portfolio, including the Defence Materiel Organisation;
and
- called the Department of Veterans’
Affairs.
The committee will next meet on Thursday, 15 February 2007 in
the Main Committee Room, calling the Foreign Affairs and Trade
portfolio, commencing with the department.
Rural and Regional Affairs and Transport
Committee
Portfolios allocated: Transport and Regional
Services; Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry

The committee met from 9.03am until 11.01pm.
The committee:
- called the department and agencies of the
Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry portfolio, including the Wheat
Export Authority, the Australian Pesticides and Veterinary
Medicines Authority, the Australian Quarantine and Inspection
Service, Biosecurity Australia, the Australian Bureau of
Agriculture and Resource Economics, the Bureau of Rural Sciences,
and the Australian Fisheries Management Authority; and
- did not require the Grains Research and
Development Corporation.
The committee will next meet on Thursday, 15 February 2007 in
the Senate Committee Room 2S1, calling the Transport and Regional
Services portfolio, commencing with the department.
