On the first day of each sitting week the Senate Daily Summary
(SDS) outlines the business scheduled for consideration in the
Senate. On subsequent days, SDS provides a convenient summary of
the previous day's proceedings in the Senate, with links to
official Senate records.
Another document useful in tracking the business of the Senate
is the Dynamic
Red, which records proceedings in the Senate as they
happen.
Senator Jeannie
Ferris
On 8 May the Senate will pay tribute to the memory of the late
Senator Jeannie Ferris with a motion of condolence from 2 pm. The
Senate will then adjourn as a mark of respect.
Resignations
On 8 May the President will inform the Senate of the resignation
of Senator Santoro and Senator Vanstone.
New senators
On 8 May Ms Suzanne Boyce and Mr Simon Birmingham will be sworn
in as senators to fill vacancies in the representation of
Queensland and South Australia.
Budget 2007-08
The Minister for Finance and Administration (Senator Minchin)
will table the Budget
statement and associated papers for the year 2007-08. Relevant
documents will be referred to committees to enable them to examine
the proposed budget.
