necessary.

The Senate Daily Summary will be published each day
after the committees meet. The Summary will give a brief overview
on the progress made by each committee and the business each
committee expects to consider the next day.
Environment, Communications, Information Technology and
the Arts Committee
Portfolios
allocated: Communications, Information Technology and the
Arts; Environment and Heritage
For current
information about the committee’s hearings
The committee met from 9.07am until 11.05pm.
The committee:
- called the following agencies of the
Communications, Information Technology and the Arts portfolio:
Special Broadcasting Service, Australian Broadcasting Corporation,
Australia Post and Australian Communications and Media Authority;
and
- did not require Outcome 3 of the Department of
Communications, Information Technology and the Arts.
The committee will next meet on Tuesday 31 October 2006 in
Senate Committee Room 2S3, calling the:
- Communications, Information Technology and the Arts portfolio,
commencing with Outcome 2; and
- Department and agencies of the Environment and Heritage
portfolio.
Finance and Public Administration
Committee
Portfolios allocated:
Finance and Administration; Human Services; Parliament; Prime
Minister and Cabinet

The committee met from 9am until 11.01pm.
The committee:
- called the Parliamentary departments,
department and agencies of the Prime Minister and Cabinet
portfolio, including the National Water Commission, Office of
National Assessments, Australian National Audit Office, and Office
of the Commonwealth Ombudsman; and
- did not require the Office of the Official
Secretary of the Governor-General, Australian Public Service
Commission, and Inspector General of Intelligence and
Security.
The committee will next meet on Tuesday 31 October 2006 in
Senate Committee Room 2S1, calling the:
- Finance and Public Administration portfolio commencing with the
Australian Electoral Commission.
Legal and Constitutional Affairs
Committee
Portfolios allocated:
Attorney-General; Immigration and Multicultural Affairs

The committee met from 9.06am until 10.58pm.
The committee:
- called the Department of Immigration and
Multicultural Affairs.
The committee will next meet on Tuesday 31 October 2006 in the
Main Committee Room, calling the:
- Attorney-General’s portfolio commencing with the
Administrative Appeal Tribunal.
Rural and Regional Affairs and Transport
Committee
Portfolios allocated:
Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry; Transport and Regional
Services

The committee met from 9am until 11pm.
The committee:
- called the department and agencies of the
Transport and Regional Services portfolio, including the Australian
Transport Safety Bureau, Australian Maritime Safety Authority,
Civil Aviation Safety Authority and Airservices Australia; and
- did not require the Inspector of Transport
Security, Office of Transport Security and National Capital
Authority.
The committee will next meet on Tuesday 31 October 2006 in House
of Representatives Committee Room 2R1, calling the:
- Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry portfolio, commencing with
the Department.
