supplementary budget estimates (membership of committees, portfolio
allocation, terms of reference etc.) is available on the Senate web

available on the Senate webpage and will be updated as
necessary.

The Senate Daily Summary will be published each day
after the committees meet. The Summary will give a brief overview
on the progress made by each committee and the business each
committee expects to consider the next day.
Community Affairs Committee
Portfolios allocated: Families, Community Services and
Indigenous Affairs; Health and Ageing

The committee met from 9.05am until 11pm.
The committee:
- called the department and agencies of the
Family, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs portfolio;
and
- concluded its budget estimates supplementary
hearings for 2006-07.
Economics Committee
Portfolios allocated: Industry, Tourism and Resources;
Treasury

information about the committee’s hearings
The committee met from 9.04am until 10.58pm.
The committee:
- called the department and agencies of the
Treasury portfolio, including the Australian Securities and
Investments Commission; Australian Prudential Regulation Authority;
Productivity Commission and the Australian Taxation Office.
The committee will meet in the sitting period commencing 27
November 2006 to question officers from the Australian Competition
and Consumer Commission and the Australian Securities and
Investments Commission in relation to Telstra.
Employment, Workplace Relations and Education
Committee
Portfolios allocated: Education, Science and Training;
Employment and Workplace Relations

The committee met from 9am until 11pm.
The committee:
- called the department and agencies of the
Employment and Workplace Relations portfolio, including the Office
of the Employment Advocate; Australian Building and Construction
Commission; Office of Workplace Services and Australian Fair Pay
Commission Secretariat;
- did not require Comcare; Safety,
Rehabilitation and Compensation Commission; Seafarers’
Safety, Rehabilitation and Compensation Authority; Australian
Industrial Relations Commission; Australian Industrial Registry;
Equal Opportunity for Women in the Workplace Agency and Indigenous
Business Australia; and
- concluded its budget estimates supplementary
hearings for 2006-07.
Foreign Affairs, Defence and Trade
Committee
Portfolios allocated:
Defence (including Veterans’ Affairs); Foreign Affairs and
Trade

The committee met from 9am until 8.30pm.
The committee:
- called the departments and agencies of the
Foreign Affairs and Trade portfolio, including the Australian
Agency for International Development; and
- concluded its budget estimates supplementary
hearings for 2006-07.
