    to: provide for a national regulatory scheme for the management of ozone depleting substances and synthetic greenhouse gases used as their replacements; ratify the Beijing Amendment to the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer which requires a ban on trade in and manufacture of bromochloromethane, and a ban on trade in hydrochlorofluorocarbons with certain countries; change the long and short titles of the Act; and
    Evidence Act 1995

    Trans-Tasman Mutual Recognition Act 1997
    to reflect the title change of the
    Ozone Protection Act 1989
    to the

    Introduced with the Petroleum (Submerged Lands) Amendment Bill 2003, the bill imposes levies (a safety investigation levy, a safety case levy and a pipeline safety management plan levy) on the operators of facilities engaged in the exploration, development and production of offshore petroleum. The levies will be used to fund the regulatory activities of the National Offshore Petroleum Safety Authority. Also contains a regulation-making power.
