    to: provide that individuals can register their preference not to receive telemarketing calls or marketing faxes; and enable the minister to specify a longer period of time for which numbers remain in force on the register and to reinstate numbers that have lapsed on the register at the end of the current three-year registration period; and
    Telecommunications Act 1997
    to make consequential amendments, including enabling the Australian Communications and Media Authority to develop an industry standard for the fax marketing industry.

    to: establish a statutory framework for an information publication scheme for certain Commonwealth agencies; remove fees for applications under the Act; enable the Australian Information Commissioner to extend time periods for processing requests in certain cases; provide for consultation processes when responding to onerous requests; provide that documents held by certain contracted service providers are subject to the Act; and limit access to certain intelligence agency information and documents of the Department of Defence; the
