To require the Commonwealth to pay specified amounts of levy it has
collected on behalf of the dairy industry to Australian Animal Health
Council Ltd.
The reader is referred to the Digest for the Dairy Produce Levy (No.
1) Amendment Bill 1997
The effect of the expansion of the definition of Australian Animal Health
Council levy proposed by item 1 of Schedule 1 of the Bill to include the
Australian Animal Health Council levy specified in the Dairy Produce
Levy (No. 1) Act 1986. This will require the Commonwealth
to pay the Australian Animal Health Council Ltd amounts from the Consolidated
Revenue Fund equal to what it has collected from the levy or as penalty
for non-payment of levy.
