The Commonwealth Department of Industry, Tourism and Resources (DITR) is responsible for tourism at the national level.
The Tourism Forecasting Council provides authoritative forecasts of inbound and domestic tourism activity. It is now part of the new body, Tourism Australia.
Tourism Australia is the Federal Government statutory authority responsible for international tourism marketing as well as the delivery of research and forecasts for the sector. The new national tourism organisation,was officially launched 1 July 2004. It brings together the Australian Tourist Commission, See Australia, the Bureau of Tourism Research and the Tourism Forecasting Council.

Tourism on the Move, The Federal Department of Industry Tourism and Resources produced a bi-monthly newsletter reporting on Australian government policy and current trends in the tourism industry (last issue: August 2004).

Meetings & Events Australia
National Sea Change Taskforce. The taskforce is a national body established November 2004 to represent the interests of coastal councils and communitites experienceing the effects of rapid population and tourism growth.
Tourism Research Australia is a merger of the Bureau of Tourism Research and the Tourism Forecasting Council. Tourism Research Australia will continue to provides tourism-related research and statistical information, and will continue to focus on connecting its research to users
TTF Australia A nonpartisan organisation established to protect and promote members investment interests in the tourism and transport industries.

Australian Bureau of Statistics The ABS provides monthly statistics, overseas arrivals and departures and other surveys. Pub. 1130.0 is a Directory of Tourism Statistics, 2000.

World Travel and Tourism Council The WTTC is the Global Business Leaders' Forum for Travel & Tourism. Site includes statistics and economic research.

Tax Policy Center Analysis of travel and tourism tax policies.
