PrefacePARLIAMENT HOUSE MR PRESIDENT The Department of the Parliamentary Reporting Staff's Portfolio Budget Statement 2003-2004, to be tabled in the Senate, is a major component of the department's commitment to proper and effective accountability to the Parliament. The Statement provides information on the proposed funding of DPRS for the 2003-2004 financial year and allows the department's performance to be judged against its agreed outcome and outputs. The Statement sets out the department's funding in aggregate, by outcome and by output group. It provides information on the department's resource levels for 2003-2004 and shows the outputs to be achieved from the department's accrual based budget. The Department of the Parliamentary Reporting Staff will continue to manage its operations in the most cost effective manner and to seek to achieve its outcome of providing the Commonwealth Parliament with international standard broadcasting, transcription and information technology services as well as ensuring that the Australian community is able to see, hear and read the work of the Parliament.
