The Department of Parliamentary Services is the service department for Australia's national Parliament, providing services and facilities which enable Senators and Members of the House of Representatives to work and communicate with each other, with their constituents and with the community. DPS takes the Australian Parliament to the Australian community and to the world.

The primary services provided by DPS include - information research, library services, television and radio broadcasting, Hansard transcripts, central computing facilities and services, telecommunications and all aspects of the maintenance and security of the building. Innovative merging of new and existing technologies has resulted in more sophisticated services like world wide computer access to parliamentary information and the broadcasting of parliamentary proceedings live on the Internet.

Our products and services are used by a wide range of organisations and individuals in the community including federal, state and local government, universities, public and private companies, professional bodies, schools, libraries, not-for-profit groups and the media.

In many cases the services and products we provide to the Parliament are also available at the same time, or a short time later, to the public, both in Australia and overseas.
