Dame Margaret Guilfoyle was a Senator for Victoria from 1971 to 1987. She was the first woman to be appointed to an Australian Cabinet portfolio, when she became Minister for Social Security in the Fraser Government in 1976.

Susan Ryan was the first Labor Senator for the Australian Capital Territory, appointed in 1975. She was the Federal Minister Assisting the Prime Minister on the Status of Women 1983–88 and the Minister for Education, 1984–87.

Barbara Caine is Professor of History at Monash University. She has written extensively on the history of British and Australian feminism.

Moira Rayner is a discrimination lawyer in private practice in Victoria. She is writing a biography of former Victorian Premier Joan Kirner.

John Uhr is Senior Fellow in the Political Science Program, Research School of Social Sciences, Australian National University.

Marise Payne is a Liberal Party Senator for New South Wales. She is involved in a range of legislative and policy committees which impact on international affairs, social justice, national security and IT.

Julia Gillard was elected to the House of Representatives for Lalor (Victoria) in 1998. She is the Shadow Minister for Health.
